Purchasing AirPods 3

· 1 min read · 323 Words · -Views -Comments

From June 2020 to now, 3 years later, my AirPods 2 couldn’t keep up anymore, so I upgraded to the 3rd generation during the 618 sale. I continued with JD, chose the MagSafe version, purchase price 1179CNY.

After using the 3rd generation for 2 days, the overall feeling is below expectations, hoping to gradually adapt. Here I’ll list the pros and cons I personally discovered.

3rd Generation vs 2nd Generation

Disadvantages

  1. Comfort

Mainly because the 1st and 2nd generations share the same design, and after years of getting used to them, currently wearing the 3rd generation causes some discomfort, mainly feeling tighter. Of course, the benefit is that they’re less likely to fall out. Overall, currently feel the comfort is not as good as the 2nd generation.

  2. Charging Case Earphone Slot

Still influenced by the first two generations, the earphone insertion direction is exactly opposite to before, causing each insertion to take a bit longer than before.

Advantages

  1. Wireless Charging

Currently not being used, mainly because I don’t have a car yet, but better to have it than not

  2. Increased Battery Life

Controversial Points

  1. Operation Experience

For example, to activate Siri besides voice activation, manual activation requires pressing the earphone - successful press gives audio feedback, so normally two fingers would be needed. Whereas before, just tapping with one finger was enough. Playing music, pausing music, hanging up calls are the same, same experience.

The operation is a bit more troublesome, but the benefit is that previous tapping was easy to get the force wrong and cause the earphones to fall out. So this has both advantages and disadvantages.

Summary

Personally, I’ve used from the 1st generation to the current 3rd generation. The current 3rd generation has less experience than the previous 2nd generation and has these disadvantages, but it’s still a capable product. Paired with other Apple devices, I genuinely like this ecosystem experience.

So, I still recommend everyone to try it.
