Introduction to Claude

Recently, because of Claude Sonnet and Cursor, I started contacting Claude. After using it for a while, I found that Claude is quite good; at least, I feel it’s on par with ChatGPT at the moment.

Here I’ll mark down some usage tips.

Requirements

  • VPN
    • This is similar to ChatGPT; both require solving network issues.
    • The list of countries supported by Claude can be found here.
    • If the proxy network is not good, account suspension is likely later.
    • You can refer to my proxy solution for those who haven’t solved the VPN issue.
  • Foreign phone number
    • Google Voice is not supported; using a GV number to receive an SMS verification code will result in an immediate error.
    • Getting a foreign SIM card, such as Giffgaff, is impossible if you don’t have one.
    • Using SMS verification code platforms recommended online may result in a higher chance of not receiving the verification code.

Register

  • You can follow the official website registration process with the above conditions met.

If you have difficulties with registration and phone verification, you can only purchase an account from others.

Usage Tips

  1. Enable Feature Preview

Claude often has experimental new features; it’s recommended that you enable them for early access, such as the recently launched LaTeX Rendering.

  2. Claude also supports multiple chat sessions, so make good use of Chat history to save different contexts.

  3. Claude 3.5 Sonnet can independently write, edit and execute code, so you can use Sonnet for coding.

  4. Claude provides some nice tools, visit here to access

    1. AI-generated prompts
    2. Prompt library, through which you can learn some excellent prompts

Claude vs ChatGPT

Comparing Claude with ChatGPT:

  1. In terms of AI intelligence, I personally think they’re evenly matched, both belonging to the first tier, but Claude Sonnet is quite impressive, worth experiencing more. As for ChatGPT’s announced new voice mode and Sora, they’re still keeping us waiting.
  2. ChatGPT has a Mac desktop version, with Windows version coming by the end of the year, while Claude currently only has a web version and mobile app version, no desktop version yet, so the experience is a bit lacking, can only use the web version for now.

At the end

  1. Considering costs and being kept waiting by OpenAI, I’ve unsubscribed from GPT Plus.
  2. Plan to continue using Claude and Cursor for free for a while. Looking forward to GPT launching new features soon.
