Availability Limits

  • The feature is currently rolling out to Plus and Team members. It should reach everyone this week.

Advanced Voice is rolling out to all Plus and Team users in the ChatGPT app over the course of the week. While you’ve been patiently waiting, we’ve added Custom Instructions, Memory, five new voices, and improved accents.

Advanced Voice is not yet available in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, or Liechtenstein.

  • If you’re eligible but still see “currently unavailable,” update to the latest app version, sign out and back in, or even reinstall. Otherwise, you’ll need to wait for the rollout to hit your account.

Supported Platforms

  1. ChatGPT Mac app
  2. ChatGPT iOS app
  3. ChatGPT Android app

The web experience doesn’t support it yet.

How to Use It

On iOS, tap the voice icon to launch the new mode and start chatting naturally.

Tips

  • You can interrupt the AI mid-sentence.

  • Add instructions under Personalization → Custom Instructions to shape the voice experience.

  • The new voice mode is currently offline—it can’t fetch up-to-date information such as the latest U.S. election news.

  • Not every thread or model supports advanced voice mode. GPTs and chats that contain images or files are excluded.

Usage Limits

Advanced voice mode has daily caps—roughly 30 minutes based on current testing. Exceeding the limit triggers this prompt:

Final Thoughts

After half a day of light use, I’m impressed and eager for higher usage limits plus online access. The mode is perfect for practicing spoken English or using GPT as an on-the-go tour guide.
