Getting the Apple Watch S10

I got the Apple Watch S4 in November 2018 and have used it for almost six years. The battery health has dropped to 77%. Considering that the latest Watch OS11 no longer supports the S4 and has been used for a long time, I decided to get the S10.

After using the S10 for a few days, I’ve compiled the pros and cons for your reference.

Purchased Version

First, let me explain the version I bought.

  • My S4 was the GPS 44mm version; this time, I chose the GPS 46mm version (the new version only comes in 42mm and 46mm).
  • Since the mainland China doesn’t support fast charging, I opted for another version. I chose the Macao version, priced at 3499MOP, equivalent to 3132CNY.
  • As for the color, I went with glossy black. Regarding paint chipping, I’ll have to see after using it for a while.

The reason I didn’t buy the Ultra version is purely due to budget constraints.

S10 vs. S4

This compares the S10 and S4, so the differences are more apparent.

Pros

  • Visibly larger screen and thinner design.
  • Fast charging: charging from 0% to 80% only takes 30 minutes. The S4 does not have fast charging.
  • The screen is always on, so you can see the watch information without raising your wrist. The screen is also brighter during regular display.
  • The charging cable is now woven, which feels and looks higher quality.
  • The double-tap gesture is convenient.

Cons

There aren’t any significant cons compared to the S4. Just keep in mind that the mainland China version lacks fast charging.

Of course, the Watch itself still has some drawbacks.

  • Battery life still requires daily charging and cannot last two full days. It would be amazing if it could match Garmin’s battery life.

At the end

In short, the S10 is great, and I recommend that new users and old users with devices like the S4 try it.
