Subscribing to ChatGPT Plus in the Turkey Region

I used to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus via the US Apple region. Even tax-free it cost USD 20 per month (about 144.53 CNY/month). To save money, I switched to the Turkey region instead. The price there is 499 TRY (tax included), roughly 92 CNY/month.

Click “Create Apple Account,” set the country to Turkey, and you can enter any phone number—including a +86 number.

Use a fake address generator for identity information if needed, for example: https://www.fakexy.com/fake-address-generator-tr

If logging in over your standard network fails—even with the correct username and password—enable a proxy and try again. https://account.apple.com/sign-in

Top Up

  1. The Turkey region doesn’t officially sell digital gift cards online.
  2. Apple verifies cards when you add a payment method, so non-Turkish cards—such as a domestic Visa—cannot be bound directly.
  3. Consider purchasing gift cards via Taobao, Xianyu, or similar marketplaces. Choose sellers with solid transaction history to avoid blacklisted cards. I bought a 1,000 TRY card for 182.5 CNY as a reference point.

Once the balance is topped up, you can complete the subscription payment normally.

Even Cheaper in Nigeria?

From what I’ve gathered, subscribing in Nigeria is even cheaper—around 9,900 NGN, or 43 CNY per month. However, Nigeria doesn’t support Apple gift cards, and both phone numbers and bank cards are hurdles. The workaround technically exists, but I wouldn’t recommend it; search online if you still want to explore it.

Final Thoughts

  1. Once you solve Apple payments in the Turkey region, you can unlock a lot of other low-cost app subscriptions there as well.
  2. Compared to the US region, this approach cuts the price by roughly 30%.
