Podcasts使用指南
I enjoy listening to podcasts before bed at night. Recently someone asked me how to use podcasts, so today I’m writing a guide to share my current usage patterns.
Apple Podcasts
As an Apple ecosystem user, I use Apple Podcasts for podcasts. Currently Apple offers clients for the following platforms, and personally, I mainly use the iPhone version.
- Mac
- iPad
- iPhone
- Web version
Note: Apple doesn’t offer a Windows client. If you’re a Windows user, you can either use the web version or third-party apps. If you know of any excellent podcast clients for Windows/Android, feel free to share in the comments.
Favorite Podcast Channels
On Apple Podcasts, I frequently listen to the following channels:
- 内核恐慌 (Kernel Panic)
- 疽投圈 (Crazy Investment Circle)
- IT公论 (IT Public Discussion)
- 郭德纲相声 (Guo Degang’s Crosstalk)
Audiobooks?
Apple Podcasts still has limited resources. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the client, you can also search on YouTube. Combined with YouTube’s premium feature - background playback, it actually works quite well. For example, I often use YouTube to listen to comedy sketches/“Ghost Blows Out the Light” novels.
Creating Podcasts with notebooklm-audio
If you’ve been playing with notebooklm recently, you can combine it with podcasts in new ways. notebooklm can convert articles/YouTube videos/PDFs, etc., into audio. Here’s the complete workflow:
- First, create a new notebook in notebooklm and upload a book PDF or a webpage.
- Click to generate audio.
- Download the audio, upload it to cloud storage or a file server, and get a remote access link.
- Build a podcast RSS feed - I’ve created an example here: Access Link
- Add the RSS link in Apple Podcasts, click subscribe, and you’ll find it works when you click play.
As you can see, creating your own podcast isn’t difficult. Of course, if you want to publish it officially in the store, the process will be different.
Latest notebooklm News
The iOS app version is expected to be released this month. With it, the conversion work mentioned above won’t be necessary, giving us another way to listen to podcasts.
Final Thoughts
In summary, podcasts are a pure way to listen to audio content. If you haven’t tried them before, give it a shot - maybe you’ll enjoy it.
