How AI Notebook NotebookLM Revolutionizes Learning Methods?
In 2025, learning new things feels more difficult than ever before, for the following reasons:
- Lack of time. Busy work, constant interruptions.
- Information overload. Too much content, especially fragmented content is complex.
- Lack of motivation. Reading long documents or watching lengthy videos can be very boring.
But now there’s NotebookLM — we have another way to learn.
NotebookLM
NotebookLM is an AI tool powered by Google that takes this concept to a new level. It’s not just an ordinary AI; it’s like two experts sitting together, explaining any topic to you with clear, friendly, personalized conversations.
What’s Special?
NotebookLM learns from your resources (PDFs, YouTube videos, web pages, Google Docs, even your personal notes) and transforms them into conversations, summaries, insights, study guides, and even personalized podcasts.
You don’t need to fully read these resources to search and learn.
3 Features
Here are three features I personally like:
1. Audio Overview (Podcast Mode)
Imagine two engaging hosts accurately explaining what you need to know based on your content. With NotebookLM, podcasts are automatically generated. You can even join the conversation in real-time, ask questions, or add background information. Below is an example where I generated a podcast from a video, you can give it a listen.
2. Massive Context Window
With a context window of up to 25 million characters, you can upload dozens of long documents (books, reports, research papers), and the AI will remember everything. It doesn’t stay superficial but goes deep, precise, and relevant to you. So now uploading a book is not a problem.
3 Reliable Citations and Structured Documents
Every AI answer comes with clickable sources. Just click the numbers to jump to the corresponding section in the original document. You can also generate FAQs, summaries, study guides, glossaries, and timelines with one click.
How NotebookLM Solves Learning Problems in Different Fields
NotebookLM isn’t just for students or general learners. Here are some powerful use cases across industries:
Marketing
- Upload trend reports, past campaigns, and strategic documents.
- Get podcast-like summaries of what worked and what didn’t.
- Ask questions like: Which campaign had the highest ROI in 2023, and why?
Perfect for marketing strategists, freelancers, and CMOs.
Research Complex Documents (Legal, Academic, or Technical)
- Upload legal texts, academic papers, or technical manuals.
- Get easy-to-understand explanations, summaries, and glossaries.
- Ask: What does Article 47 of this regulation mean?
Perfect for lawyers, researchers, PhD students, and compliance officers.
Travel Planning (Personal or Business)
- Upload blogs, guides, PDFs, videos, and your own notes.
- Get itinerary suggestions, cultural highlights, and local tips.
- Ask: We’re planning to go to Japan in June, a 6-day trip to Tokyo and Osaka, what are some relaxed routes?
Current Limitations of NotebookLM
- Podcast output language can only be set globally, meaning if I change the output language, then any new notebook’s podcasts will be in that language.
- The podcast’s real-time conversation mode currently doesn’t support Chinese.
Looking forward to continued updates.
Additional Notes
- NotebookLM has now launched
mobile versions like iOS
, and the functionality is also complete. - NotebookLM has a paid version that requires subscribing to
Google AI Pro
. I currently find the free version sufficient and haven’t subscribed yet.
Final Thoughts
What truly changes the game isn’t the way you access information, but how you process it.
In a world that’s changing faster than ever, having a tool that helps you learn more, faster, and easier is a superpower.
In summary, I currently use NotebookLM frequently for learning. If you have any good methods, feel free to share them.
