Talking About Spotify and Domestic Music Services

Spotify is a well-known music streaming app that I’ve been using for many years. I really like it, so here I’ll share the pros and cons. I also recommend it to users who can access it.

Pros

1. Visual design. Beauty is important. Spotify belongs to those apps that look beautiful no matter how you view them. The interface design is first-class. Similar beautiful apps include Fantastical/Things, all of which are Top1 in their respective fields.
2. Interactive experience, very comfortable.
3. Relatively complete Chinese music library. Foreign apps generally have incomplete Chinese music libraries, but Spotify’s Chinese music library is relatively more complete.
4. Device switching experience.

Cons

• Chinese lyrics don’t support Simplified Chinese. You can get used to it, but it would be great if it could support it.

Domestic Music Services

When repeatedly choosing music streaming apps, I’ve also tried the following apps and eventually gave up on them all.

• NetEase Cloud Music: I used to really like it, but now it has too much social attributes and copyright issues, so I gave up
• QQ Music: Heavy social attributes, and even as a member there are still ads which is intolerable. It’s rogue behavior. Besides, when listening to music, it defaults to showing MVs, live streams, etc. I really admire the product manager. Won’t consider it anymore
• Apple Music: Song search is too painful. For example, Chinese artist names can’t always be found, you have to switch to English names, but not everyone knows all the names. Of course there are other issues like incomplete lyrics, so I gave up
• YouTube Music: Song search and lyrics also have a bunch of issues, gave up.

It has to be said that in the 21st century, finding a usable music streaming app is still difficult. Currently, Spotify seems to be the relatively optimal solution.

Spotify Free/Premium

There are a few things to note when using Spotify

• In Profile, you can modify region settings, but the prerequisite is that you haven’t activated Premium subscription yet.
• iOS Spotify can set language independently, unrelated to system language settings.
• New registered accounts will get more than ten days of limited premium service for free, then return to free status with ads.
• Music streaming is free but features are limited. If you want the full experience, you need to pay. I don’t reject quality services with reasonable prices, so this is acceptable. Spotify subscription payment is relatively troublesome, recommend going through group buying.
